We have spent in august 2011 several night s in the roses room, We had very nice days in this hotel, having the possibility to appreciate the kindness of Mark and it s staff. We got good advice on making trips in the surrounding as well as on the wine we drunk in the hotel. If we will be again in Hungary, we will certainly stay at hotel Kastell. We booked our room via booking.com and gave a 9,2 to 10 on price quality. Nicoletta and Flavio from Torino in Italy.

Our first stay in Hotel Kastell was in 2008. We returned in 2009 and just recently booked two new reservations for both June and September of this year (2011). That we continue to return after that first visit, for what will soon be a third and fourth stay, is testament in itself to our satisfaction with this hotel. This is a small, privately owned hotel situated in a rural village in western Hungary. The ambiance is of tranquility - a country peacefulness missing the hustle-bustle of the larger hotels located in nearby cities. Hotel Kastell has rustic charm and the dining room (once the granary on the original estate dating back to 1834) gives an authentic historic sampling of old Hungary. Garden rooms are in a modern building and yet retain the feeling of a peaceful nature setting. This hotel offers a unique experience blending small, clean, historic, rural with modern conveniences (including Internet access in the lounge area), unsurpassed and personalized service, an excellent variety of menu and wine choices and is a good launching point from which to explore Western Transdanubia. Our room was meticulously clean and the bed - wonderfully comfortable. Food in the dining room favors traditional Hungarian fare and the kitchen was very obliging in customizing dishes to our personal preference. The service at Hotel Kastell is remarkable. The owner (Mark) is certainly one of the most obliging, accommodating and conscientious hotel operators that we have experienced. He went to great efforts to see that our every requirement was met and consistently exceeded our expectations. If you have a special request and it is at all possible to realize Mark will make it possible. At Christmas 2009 when the hotel was scheduled to be closed for the holidays so he could return to his homeland for Christmas with family, Mark cancelled his travel plans and opened the hotel for our convenience...and even included a Christmas tree! Nature and Art Hotel Kastell is what it claims to be. The air is clean. The location is in a peaceful, quiet setting surrounded by nature. The atmosphere is casual, relaxed and intimate. Our room was clean and comfortable. The Hungarian cuisine is cooked fresh and portions are generous. And yes, it is very convenient that the owner speaks excellent English! We are Canadians travelling to Hungary from Toronto, Canada (a long way to go to get there though!). We have relatives living a few miles from Hotel Kastell and prior to 2008 when visiting western Hungary we stayed in one of the top rated hotels in nearby Szombathely. This was my second time to be in this perfect hotel. The rooms are clean and nice. The beds are perfect thanks for the excellent and exclusive matraces and pillows. The owner hosted us very kindly all the time and the kitchen is also perfect. The whole place is really nice and relaxing so it is a good choice to visit and spend a few days here. Thanks for everything!
